Honey Butter Korean Fried Chiken

  • 12 Chicken drumpsticks
  • 2 tb-sp Rice wine/ sake
  • 1 t-sp Fine sea salt
  • 1/2 t-sp Ground black pepper
  • 1 cup Potato starch/ corn starch
  • 1tb-sp Roasted sesame seeds (optional)


  Sauce and seasoning

  • 3 tb-sp Butter
  • 2 tb-sp Minced garlic
  • 3 tb-sp Brown sugar
  • 5 tb-sp Honey
  • 2 tb-sp Soy sauce

  1. Rinse the chicken drumpsticks 
  2. In a bowl,Mix the rice wine, salt and black pepper with the drumpsticks
  3. Evenly coat the chicken with the starch and set side 
  4. Place the drumpsticks in an air-fryer 180° (20 minutes)
  5. Take out the chicken and place them onto some kitchen paper
  6. Re-place them in the airfryer for another 10 mins, result in the golden and crisp look
  7. In a separate saucepan, add in the Korean fried chicken sauce ingredients.  Heat the sauce over low to medium heat and stir well. Once it starts bubbling, remove the pan from the heat
  8. Place the double fried chicken into the pan or a seperate mixing bowl and mix them lightly and thoroughly

  9. Sprinkle some roasted sesame seed for decoration

To get the effect that all drumpsricks can be covered with a thin layer of starch, dip the individual chicken pieces into the bowl of starch, roll the chicken around a bit then take them out and set aside.
