Crispy Salt and Pepper Tofu

  • ½ cup Flour
  • ½ cup Breadcrumbs
  • 2 t-sp Chopped garlic
  • 2 t-sp Chopped onion
  • 1 t-sp Ground white pepper
  • ½ t-sp Salt
  • 1 egg


  Sauce and seasoning

  • 2 t-sp Dried red scallions
  • 2 t-sp Dried chilli

1. Mix the breadcrumbs and flour in a medium bowl

2. Place tofu block onto a cutting board and diced the tofu into 1-inch cubes

3. Pat dry the tofu cubes with kitchen paper towel

4. Beat up the egg and put aside


5. Heat ½ cup of oil in a pan and bring to medium heat

6. Slowly place the tofu cubes in the egg and coat with a thin layer of flour and breadcrumbs

7. Add a few pieces of tofu and fry until crispy on all sides until the tofu cubes become pale yellow gold

8. Carry the tofu with a skimmer and place on a kitchen paper towel, rest for 1 min before the second fry

9. Bring the tofu to the pan and slowly fry to light golden brown

10. Remove extra oil, only leave around 1 tablespoon of oil in pan, fry chili, scallions, onion, garlic and fresh ground black pepper until aromatic

11. Turn off the fire. Return tofu and sprinkle salt

12. Garnish with some spring onions and toss well
